Marriage + Family



Some types of counseling focus on relationships rather than individuals.  Marriage and Family Therapy (MFT) addresses mental health issues affecting relationships between family members or spouses.  In Family Therapy, sessions focus on addressing the behaviors of all family members and how these behaviors affect the individual family members and the relationships between these family members.  Special attention is given to the functioning of the family unit as a whole.  Family session can focus on an individual or multiple individual but works with in the family system to address the issues.

Marital Therapy is focused on the marriage and works to help strengthen the marital relationship focusing on strengthening communication, breaking unhealthy habits and negative patterns.  Marital is sometimes referred to as couples and family therapy, couples counseling, marriage counseling, or family counseling.
