Amaiya's passion to become a mental health professional is rooted in the belief that God made each of us unique, according to his image. Her desire to become a meaning-maker has everything to do with de-stigmatizing mental health and promoting healthy cognitive functioning. She holds a posture of compassion, humility, and unconditional positive regard as she walks alongside her clients in their journey to heal.

Her previous experience working as a registered behavior technician with children diagnosed with autism has equipped her with skills to facilitate emotional regulation, encourage pro-social behavior, and collaborate with parents to foster greater cohesion. Amaiya’s ultimate goal is to be a resource for children and adolescents as they navigate hardship, transitionary periods, and relational ruptures. While the child and adolescent population is of keen interest to her she values each opportunity to work with individuals, families, and elders.

Amaiya holds a Bachelors of Science degree in Psychology from Howard University and is currently pursuing a Masters of Arts degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Wheaton College. She operates within a holistic approach prioritizing mental, physical, and spiritual wellness. In addition to her pursuit of higher education she is an active member in the youth ministry at First Baptist Church of Melrose Park, holds an assistant position as a foundation assistant within a non-profit organization, and works part-time at a chiropractic and functional medicine clinic.
