David Beirne, LCPC wants his clients to be understood as they explore and discover insight and practical tools that shape their own story.
Many people have experiences, thoughts or emotions which they don’t understand—perhaps something in the past that sticks with them far longer than they thought it would—and David is drawn to working with clients to help unpack these experiences.
Like a true guide who walks beside you, David also helps people who feel directionless or stuck to not only figure out next steps, but how to actually take those next steps.
David’s counseling philosophy is founded on one pivotal word: Growth. He is inspired to help clients see real growth over time, yet discerns that this growth doesn’t come out of human effort—there are divine appointments along the way.
David often works with individuals who have a significant hardship they want to understand (including a traumatic experience), depression, anxiety, executive functioning, as well as academic issues—such as going back to college or a second career.
Clients who work with David will quickly see his gifts of curiosity and wonder being used to explore, encourage and inspire in the midst of hardship—ushering hope through creative yet proven interventions.
An avid reader and researcher, David anchors therapy in truth. As a Christian, he believes he does not counsel alone, and that each session is an opportunity for God to bring healing and help into the life of another.
David earned his Master’s in Mental Health Counseling at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School in Deerfield, IL and also holds a Master’s in Biblical and Theological Studies from Moody Bible Institute in Chicago, IL. Prior to this, David completed his undergraduate work in Pastoral Studies (Biblical Exposition) at Moody Bible Institute. David is also an Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) certified clinician through the EMDR Institute.
David and his wife attend Hope Collective, where he is a small group leader and serves on the Teaching Team, creating content for the congregation and facilitating group discussions. With a heart wired and trained for teaching, David preaches on occasion and helps develop other content for ministries.
