Phyllis Ulman (Siebert), LCPC

Phyllis Ulman (Siebert), MS, LCPC, CADC loves that counseling is a gift of God bringing us together, seeing people who are struggling persevere through difficult circumstances and walking by faith. This really enlarges the view of what God can do to change our hearts and minds, and that hope and healing is possible. He really does never leave or forsake us. We are all fellow journeyers and are called to live in community.  It is a blessing and privilege to be able to walk with others on their journey.

Before Steeple, Phyllis spent six years at another practice working primarily with adults and couples. Prior to that she worked at Veteran’s recovery home run by Catholic Charities on the Hines VA Campus where she was engaged in individual and group therapy and case management. These veterans struggled with chronic homelessness, substance abuse issues, and many had been involved with the criminal justice system. Phyllis also spent several years working in substance use treatment at The SHARE Program in Hoffman Estates. She spent time as an intake counselor and then transitioned to a rehab counselor and did individual, group and educational counseling with individuals in the adult inpatient unit. Many of the individuals treated were dual-diagnosed with mental health and substance abuse issues.

These experiences have led Phyllis to work with individuals struggling with anxiety, depression, mood disorders, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), abuse histories, and substance abuse. She also has engaged in grief counseling, crisis intervention, and marriage counseling. In addition, she has four years of Biblical counseling training and served in the counseling ministry of her former church.

The Barrington campus of The Orchard is where Phyllis calls home and has been a member since 2015. She has been a ministry partner in counseling, working with the pastors and ministry leaders. Phyllis is involved with the Care Team, co-leads a Life Group, and has aided in teaching several counseling classes. She recently graduated from the two-year Momentum training program through Unlocking the Bible. “What I love about the Orchard is the Word of God is preached and the Gospel is lived out! The people are so warm and welcoming—we are family.”

Phyllis earned her master's degree in Community Counseling at National-Louis University, a bachelor's degree in Psychology from DePaul University and an Addiction Counseling Certification (CADC) from the College of DuPage. She completed her Masters internship working in the outpatient and family programs at SHARE and addictions internship at AMITA Adventist Glen Oaks Hospital in the Partial Hospitalization Program with the acute and chronic inpatient units.

Phyllis currently sees clients via telehealth (video) sessions.
