Jessamy Erickson, LPC

Jessamy Erickson, LPC, connects with young people who feel overwhelmed or misunderstood by helping them figure out the root cause of their stress and emotions. Often working with children and young adults, Jessamy’s clients learn how to understand the sources of their anxiety while regulating their emotions in a healthy, God-honoring way.

Many young people experience anger, depression, or ‘big emotions,’ which they have not yet learned to understand or control. A gentle servant, Jessamy bridges the gap between her clients and their families by actively working to identify what needs to be processed, learned, applied or listened to. In the face of unknowns, Jessamy holds fast to a philosophy of care that says, “Let’s understand this”—then she steadily endures on a journey to help clients and their families better understand not only themselves, but one another.

Jessamy’s typical clients are children and teenagers, as well as college students or young adults who are transitioning into adulthood. It was during her counseling internship at Judson University’s Wellness Center where Jessamy experienced a real love and care for students, seeing firsthand how greatly the stress or mismanaged emotions from youth and childhood were affecting a person’s transition into adulthood.

Jessamy believes that what we do in weakness, the Lord does in power. Resting in the truth that the Lord is the one who heals, Jessamy focuses her practice on allowing Christ to be her wisdom and discernment, and trusts him to provide the specific direction needed to help others. Jessamy views her role as not only providing support for her clients, but parents and families alike as she consults them. She knows that parents carry great pain and sorrow in their efforts to care well for their children, and that today’s pressures in raising children can be disheartening—yet not without hope.

After prayerfully searching for the best professional fit, Jessamy chose Steeple for the unique opportunity to practice the application of clinical work with biblical grounding. With a love for people, science and relationships, Jessamy earned her Masters from Bradley University in Peoria, Illinois in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. Prior to her graduate work, Jessamy completed her undergraduate studies from Trinity International University in Deerfield, Illinois, majoring in Psychology and minoring in Sociology.
